Planet Comicon, the most anticipated adventure we go on annually! Where else can you...catch up with friends? Wear a carefully curated cosplay/costume? People Watch? As you may have figured out, we anticipate this particular event each year. And it was especially wonderful this year because we had to travel from out of state to attend! We HIGHLY recommend that you add this to your list of places to see in Kansas City. We cannot wait to go back next year!
What is it?
Planet Comicon Kansas City is what I like to call "a nerd convention". I say that in the most loving and admirable way possible because I too am part of the nerd society. To summarize though...it is:
-where you can showcase your latest cosplay design
-where you can learn how to play certain table top games
-where you can see a special curated panel of celebrities (usually ones from childhood shows, voice actors, or your good ole movie stars...sometimes wrestlers make an appearance too)
-where you can walk for hours and hours looking at amazing artwork and STILL not see it all
-where you can catch up with friends who are also in the nerd community
-where you can sit in panels where celebrities speak about whatever it is they speak about
-where you can be completely exhausted but also so happy to be there
…. I feel like I'm missing something.... but I'd say you get the idea. It's just a general good time.

Who can enjoy this experience?
It is suited for anyone! Honestly. Really. If you like anything in the Pop Culture realm, you will likely enjoy gandering the hall. I think it's safe to say that even if you do not particularly enjoy the nerdy things in life that people watching is still extremely enjoyable. Bring the whole family.
When can you go?

A Bit of advice from a veteran PCCKC convention goer...
Purchase your tickets in advance! This event is becoming SO DANG POPULAR so waiting in a line just to get a ticket is just silly. The internet has made life more manageable - so get those tickets ahead of time!!
PARKING IS OFTEN HELL if you have not been downtown Kansas City and it's typically insane anyway if there is even one event happening in addition to PCC. This year, the BIG12 Women's Basketball Tournament was taking place so all of those fans were also in the area. In years previous, its been more than one additional event. Get downtown EARLY and know ahead of time where you should look for a parking spot. (IF you need ideas, Sawyer and I happen to know that area decently well). If you do not get down there early, you WILL be walking blocks. PREPARE ahead of time. Seriously. It will save some irritation!
IF YOU CAN MANAGE getting hotel accommodations down there, its a total game changer. The Loews Hotel is attached to the convention center and we have stayed in a hotel over Con weekend for years and it just makes things so much more enjoyable. EX: NOT HAVING TO FIND PARKING EVERY MORNING! They do offer PCCKC attendees a package, so be on the lookout once those come out! It's been a really lovely experience staying there the last couple years.
