Hellooooo Adventurers! We are here to celebrate! McPeek Adventures is officially a year old! 🥳 If you'd like to see the video we made about this, the link is at the bottom of the page.

Gratitude

We are SO dang grateful to have this creative avenue of making videos about places to visit. The aim is to provide well represented videos so that everyone can experience places without actually having to physically go themselves. We're coining these adventures "virtual field trips" because that is basically what they are!

The amount of support we have been given over the last year has blown our expectations away. Going into a creative space and making videos was something we did for fun, but also to share what we were doing around town with the world. While we weren't expecting to gain a monstrous following or subscriber count, we did grow faster than we anticipated or dreamed. I'll talk stats further down if you're curious. We want to really emphasize how grateful we are to each and every person who subscribed to our channel, followed our socials, liked/commented on videos or posts, and kept our excitement levels high. It means so much to us that you all would want to come along on our adventures!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your continued support!!!!!

In The Beginning

It started as us going to places we had never been to in Kansas City and simply filming what we were doing. We quickly realized that it could be so much more because there are SO MANY cool things to see and do in KC.

A common thing we heard over the years is that "there's nothing to do in Kansas City". It's safe to say that statement is incorrect. Either the person saying that is awfully dull, or they just didn't have anyone to guide them to a place they may enjoy. OR - it's quite safe to say that they didn't WANT to find anything to do. Kansas City has something for everyone. The key is to find that something, plan out when to go, and actually go. Life is way too short to not get out there and see the world around you!

Life Change

As you may know, we were given a life plot twist during our first year as YouTubers. Sawyer got a promotion with his job and it came with a relocation package! So, we packed up and moved to the great state of Oklahoma in November!

While it was in the best interest of our lives to make this decision, we also knew that it could negatively impact our passion project of McPeek Adventures. It was a risk we discussed and were willing to roll with. So far, we've seen nothing but excitement for this new phase which is extremely relieving. Thank you again, for that!

This next year will be full of BRAND NEW adventures for us as we have not seen or done much of anything in the Tulsa area before moving here. Not only will it be fresh and new for us, but also for you! We are so excited for all the possibilities of this new region. We can jump in the car and head just about any direction and be in a new city with plenty of places to explore within minutes or hours. Heck, Kansas City is still only about a 3.5 hour drive so there's definitely opportunities to still go back up there and cross off more things from our list that we weren't able to get to.

Some things we are looking forward to:

-experiencing the Tulsa State Fair

-going to the Tulsa Renaissance Fair

-taking Art Deco tours

-learning about this city as a whole

-diving into the history of Route 66

-doing more live videos

-maintaining our weekly Friday video schedule

-keeping up with a weekly blog post

-upgrading how we edit

Top Three

In our video, we talked about our top 3 favorite adventures in 2023 and why.

Mine were:

  1. KCI New Terminal - I enjoyed this one the most for a couple reasons. One, because it was an anticipated upgrade for YEARS and the talk of the town for ages. We knew the old KCI terminal was in desperate need of updates and it just didn't fit in with the family of other airports. It was a place GREAT for us Kansas Citians to get in and out, but man, for those people that had to fly there and sit around with layovers and such...ugh! Terrible! Second, it was just a beautiful experience. It's been decades since I've been to an airport when I wasn't travelling. (Remember those days when we could go in and wait with someone?) Lastly, it's our top viewed video so it makes it even more special.

  2. Embers Candle Bar - Our adventure to Embers made my top 3 because it was one we took our moms on. Since we wouldn't be there for their birthdays, we decided to treat them to a fun experience ahead of time by making custom candles together. It was lovely spending that time with them while making something.

  3. The Oz Museum - Holy shmoly this place was magical. The Wizard of Oz is a movie that transcends time and is easily a classic film to be loved in every generation. Seeing the artifacts and props gave me a whole new level of admiration for the film.

Sawyer's were:

  1. Planet ComiCon - he lives for the anticipation of this event. It's three days of wandering a concrete floored convention center surrounded by our favorite things while in costume: Costumes, Pop-culture, toys, artwork, photo opportunities, and pure joy.

  2. KCI New Terminal - for the same reasons as me :)

  3. GloWild at the KC Zoo - Off the top of my head I don't remember his reasonings exactly, so you'll have to watch the video (link at the bottom of this page) lol!
